Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association, SSOBA, Security Guard Unions, Unions for Security Guards, New York Security Guard Union

The Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association, has Joseph Sciascia, currently serving as President. The Union/PBA was founded in 1972 and led the way in forming a new Police Benevolent Association for private Police Departments, Public Safety Officers, Security Officers and Special Patrolmen, in hospitals, airports and city and state buildings, and now the city streets of Manhattan.

The SSOBA assisted the New York City Hospital Police, as well as Bridge and Tunnel Officers, in getting their Peace Officer Status and in forming their PBA. Most presently, the SSOBA fought for BID District Security Officers to become Public Safety Officers and won.

Local politicians have supported the movement of the SSOBA for over 40 years, to help uniformed officers find a better way of life for themselves and their families. The SSOBA is strong and growing as a result of our outstanding contracts for its members.

We take pride in getting the Peace Officer bill passed under the SSOBA flag. Currently, because of the SSOBA’s direction, new bills for training and handling psych patients are being brought to the floor. We are advancing in our methods and educating our members for the greater good of our community and work place.

I pledge that the SSOBA shall be the beacon of light for all those that seek to unite and follow the vision of its leadership in the labor movement. We will never be divided and shall always be true to our Union/PBA, the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association [S.S.O.B.A.]
