TSA Screening Procedures, Airport Security

Security Screening – TSA has evolved from a one-size-fits-all security screening approach to a risk-based, intelligence-driven strategy designed to improve both security and the passenger experience. This approach permits us to provide expedited screening for trusted travelers and to focus on high-risk and unknown passengers at security checkpoints. TSA officers may use risk-based security measures to identify, mitigate and resolve potential threats at the airport security checkpoint. These officers may ask you questions about your travel to include identity, travel itinerary and property. TSA may use a variety of screening processes, including random screening, regardless of whether an alarm is triggered. In addition, TSA uses unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual is guaranteed expedited screening.

Airports are busier than ever and this could impact your travel from curb to gate. TSA recommends arriving up to 2 hours ahead of departure for domestic travel and 3 hours ahead for international. Your security is our top priority.

What is a pat down airport security?

Frisking (also called a patdown or pat down) is a search of a person’s outer clothing wherein a person runs his or her hands along the outer garments to detect any concealed weapons.

What is the redress number for TSA?

The Redress Control Number is the record identifier for people who apply for redress through the DHS Travel Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP). DHS TRIP is for travelers who have been repeatedly identified for additional screening and who want to file an inquiry to have erroneous information corrected in DHS systems

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A former rookie deputy with the Broward Sheriff’s Office took his own life Tuesday, nearly two months after he was arrested for allegedly extorting a security guard for sexual favors, authorities said. Pembroke Pines police said they were called to a home shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities said they found Trazell McLeod, 20, dead at the home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. McLeod was fired by BSO on Oct. 20 after the investigation was opened and he was arrested on Nov. 10.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man pulled a knife on two supermarket workers when his lady friend got caught on the way to their getaway car with a cartload of stolen pampers, police said. Felisa Dawson, 42, rolled a shopping car loaded with four large boxes of Pampers out of the West Jefferson Street Jewel shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, police said. A security guard reportedly stopped her, but while he was escorting her back into the store, her male companion, 58-year-old Robert Smith, tackled him from behind. Smith had been parked in the fire lane waiting for Dawson, police said.

While Smith and the security guard were on the ground scuffling, Dawson punched the Jewel worker twice, police said.

A second Jewel employee arrived to lend a hand and Smith produced a knife, police said, then started swinging it at the two workers.

Authorities are searching for a gunman who opened fire Sunday at a packed nightclub during New Year’s celebrations in Istanbul. More than 500 people were inside the Reina club when what authorities believe to be a terrorist attack began at about 1:15 a.m. local time. Here is what we know so far.

The gunman killed at least 39 people and injured 69. Three of the wounded remain in critical condition, according to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

Nearly two-thirds of those killed — 24 victims — were from other countries, according to the Associated Press, including an 18-year-old Israeli woman, three Indian citizens, a 26-year-old man from Lebanon and a Belgian national, according to the countries’ respective foreign ministries and a relative. State-run Anadolu news agency reported Sunday that a 22-year-old police officer, Burak Yildiz, was shot and killed outside the nightclub. A female security guard, Hatice Karcilar, 29, was also among those killed, according to Anadolu. No word yet on any American victims.
