A 50 State security guard Keith Cox is on life support after he was shot at a Miami-Dade County Metrorail station Tuesday night. Union Cox, 49, was found after witnesses told police they heard gunshots at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. station
A security guard, shot at a Northwest Miami-Dade metro rail station was last listed in critical condition, according to authorities.
Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene at LEOSU, Tuesday night. A witness discovered the victim and called authorities. Police later identified the victim as 49-year-old Keith Cox. They also said he is not expected to survive his injuries.
According to officials, the security guard was shot while he was on duty, outside of the turnstiles. “The Miami-Dade Police Department Homicide Bureau is currently investigating a shooting that occurred earlier this evening at approximately 9:30,” said MDPD detective Marjorie Eloi, “the shooting of a security guard at the MLK station.”
Cox is an employee of 50 States Security. People who heard the gunshots hurried to help. “It’s upsetting because we always see him at the Metrorail working the nighttime shift,” said one woman.
