CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A security guard who fatally shot a man in Chesapeake last month appeared in court Friday by video for his arraignment. Johnathan Cromwell is charged with second degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of murder of 60 year old Jiansheng Chen shown above. The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney announced Thursday that the two warrants had been issued for Cromwell, who turned himself in to Virginia Beach Police around 5:20 p.m. that same day.
Chen, driving a blue van, turned into the driveway of the Riverwalk Clubhouse parking area in the 700 block of River Walk Pkwy. at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 26, according to the news release. When Cromwell stopped his vehicle directly in front of Chen’s van, Chen backed up and turned around. He was at the entrance of the driveway facing the street, according to the release.
Cromwell exited his car and said “stop” before he fired, the release said. Chen was shot five times: four times in the upper left chest and once in the upper left arm. Chen, 60, died at the scene.

Henderson jewelry store clerk killed by security guard’s gunshot- HENDERSON, Nev. — Surveillance video has been released today by Henderson Police in relation to an attempted robbery and death of an employee at a Jared the Galleria of Jewelry on Saturday night. The victim was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 57-year-old Kimberlee Ann Kincaid-Hill of Henderson. Her official cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner was ruled a homicide.
The suspect is described as an adult black male, 5-foot-6 to 5-10, 140 to 150 pounds, last seen wearing a red and black hoodie sweat shirt, black pants, a black mask and a dark-colored hat or beanie. The suspect also had a dark-colored backpack or bag.
