GREENSBORO, N.C. — A grocery store security guard died overnight after a shooting on the job. Greensboro police say 51-year-old Anthony Smith, of Winston-Salem, was on duty at the Food Lion in the 2300 block of East Market Street Saturday night. He was inside of the store when he was confronted by the shooter and sustained the gunshot he later died from his gunshot wounds.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A grocery store security guard died overnight after a shooting on the job.
Greensboro police say 51-year-old Anthony Smith, of Winston-Salem, was on duty at the Food Lion in the 2300 block of East Market Street Saturday night.
Just before 7:30 p.m., police got a call about a shooting at the store and found Smith seriously wounded.
An employee of Guard One security company, Wellborn said Smith would work at different Food Lions around the area.
The shooter was described as a heavyset man in his 30s. He was dressed all in black with a hooded sweatshirt and a hat. He ran off down South English Street.
Many of the store’s customers left and investigators want their help identifying the shooter.
